How to set skin goals

It is easy to get overwhelmed with new products, new treatments, and even recommendations from others in today's world. Unfortunately, this overwhelms often puts us in a state of 'freeze', and then we don't take any action to achieve our skin goals.

Setting up actionable skin goals is essential because this will help you define some goalposts as far as skincare and treatments are concerned. So many clients focus wholeheartedly on the aesthetics side of the skin, often forgetting the health side of things. Setting skin goals will also help create a benchmark of where you are now, which you can then compare with measurable progress.

Formulating realistic skin goals is often challenging on your own. I work with my clients to develop treatment plans that keep their budgets and skin goals in mind.

Skin goals are unique and personal to you and often based on your skin type:

Balanced Skin - This is you if your skin has a happy relationship between your natural oils and Ph without being extremely breakout-prone or overly dry. Here are some skin goals that would FYSO (for your skin, only).

Oily Skin - Oily skin is the result of the overproduction of sebum. Sebum can be your friend (it helps your skin feel moisturised and hair stay shiny), but if your oils are getting in the way of your skingoals, you'll love some of these new formulas.

Combination Skin - You have some oily spots, some dry spots, some spots that you're not even sure about!

Sensitive Skin - Skin that's prone to irritation or inflammation. Because humans are sensitive beings, but we don't want our skin to be.

(sensitive skin, combination skin, oily skin, dry skin

To help guide skin goals, we often group them into stages.

  1. Prevention

    1. This is all about the early signs of aging and slowing down aging through the right treatments and skincare.

  2. Anti-Aging

    1. Fine Lines and wrinkles

    2. Loss of volume

    3. Skin hydration

  3. Skin Rejuvenation (here we usually tackle one concern at a time)

    1. Discolouration due to hyper-pigmentation

    2. Redness due to Rosacea

    3. Working with existing sun damage

    4. Sagging skin

To help you get started, here are some examples of skin goals topics:

  • Reduce Breakouts

  • Minimise Pores

  • Reduce Shine

  • Reduce redness

  • Brighten

  • Improve Hydration

  • Improve skin tone

  • Calm and Sooth skin

It is so important to take a holistic approach when working at meeting your skin goals. So many people put all their hopes into a quick fix with dermal fillers or neurotoxins, often forgetting the other pieces to the puzzle i.e., targeted personalised skincare and treatments. We see some excellent results with our new Profhilo, PRP Facials, and Micro-dermabrasion treatments in the aesthetic clinic. PRP treatments are really effective with premature wrinkles, high sun damage levels, or anyone who desires a fresher, more even-toned complexion.

You only have one skin - so give it some love with the right treatment plan.

Book in for a consultation with me (the cost is redeemable against any treatment costs) and we can assess your skin and formulate your skin goals for the rest of the year.
