Natural Contributing Factors

  • Skin cells divide more slowly

  • The dermis becomes thinner

  • The network of connective tissue—collagen and elastin—begins to loosen and unravel, causing depressions to form on the skin’s surface

  • Your skin loses its elasticity and becomes more fragile

  • Oil-secreting glands shrink, reducing your skin’s ability to stay moisturized, leading to dry skin

  • Fat in the hypodermis (deepest) layer of your skin decreases

Anti-wrinkle injections

Injectable anti-ageing treatments (Botulinum toxin) are a quick and convenient way to smooth out those lines on the forehead and around the eyes and mouth without any need for surgery. Dr. Jaco van der Merwe can prescribe anti-wrinkle injections and we have chosen to use a brand called Bocouture. This treatment can target muscles under the skin and block nerve signals. This stops wrinkles that appear through muscle movement in the face. The effects of your treatment fade over time and need to be topped up. The treatments do last longer over time as you have it done more often.

Please note you have to book a facial aesthetics consultation before booking this treatment option.

Individual treatment costs start at:

£175 (1 Area) | £245 (2 Areas) | £285 (3 Areas)

Botulinum toxin brand called Bocouture

Botulinum Toxin is a type of protein which occurs in nature and it is produced by Clostridium Botulinum. This toxin produces many kinds of proteins which are rated into types A to F. These different types of proteins act on muscles of the body with varying degrees causing them to relax.

Bocouture claims to be the most innovative type of Botulinum Toxin A due to its formulation. In this type, an extensive purification system has been used for the removal of complexing proteins from the Botulinum toxin. In addition to the active ingredient, there might be associated proteins in the vial (which serve no purpose in the action of the drug). As soon as the drug is injected into the skin, the associated proteins separate from the active ingredient (Botulinum Toxin). Bocouture produce similar results to that of other types of Botulinum products without any risk of formation of anti-bodies which results in giving long lasting effects.

At Élan aesthetics, the patient's safety is paramount to us. We are constantly striving to find new ways and to educate ourselves on how we can make our procedures as safe as possible.

Facial Aesthetic - Post Treatment Consultation

We offer a free post treatment consultation which can be done in person or via a video call if requested. This consultation is normally scheduled within 2 weeks of the treatment. The effects of the treatment will start to be visible about 4 to 7 days after the injections, and the result will last for about three months. During your post-treatment consultation the doctor can check that you are happy with the results and that the treatment has worked as you expected. If necessary, a free top-up treatment can also be given at this follow up appointment.
